Analysis of the association between prophylactic use of aspirin and hyperurice-mia based on the NHANES database
Objective To explore the impact of prophylactic aspirin use on hyperuricemia(HUA)and provide evidence for the prevention of HUA.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted to include 1 898 adults from the national health and nutrition examination survey(NHANES)database from 2011 to 2018.They were divided into HUA and control groups based on serum uric acid levels.Information on prophylactic aspirin use and rele-vant covariates was collected.A multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the impact of prophylactic as-pirin use on HUA.Restricted cubic spline(RCS)models were constructed to clarify the dose-response relation-ship between aspirin dosage and HUA.Results A total of 406 patients with HUA(21.39%)were detected a-mong the study subjects. The proportion of prophylactic aspirin use in the HUA group(33.74%)was higher than that in the control group(24.06%),and the difference between the groups was statistically significant(x2=15.499,P<0.01).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that prophylactic aspirin use was still an independent risk factor for HUA after adjusting for covariates such as gender, age, race,BMI,history of diabe-tes,history of renal weakness/failure,and physical activity(OR=1.553,95%CI:1.116-1.835).The RCS model showed a positive linear correlation between aspirin dosage and HUA(nonlinear P=0.895).Conclusion Prophylactic aspirin use is associated with an increased risk of HUA.It is necessary to fully consider the uric acid level of patients and use aspirin reasonably under the guidance of doctors.
