Research progress on the immunomodulatory effect of antimicrobial peptides and their application in autoimmune diseases
Autoimmune diseases are a kind of diseases inducing organ dysfunction caused by the immune re-sponse to its own components. They are difficult to be completely cured and cause great trouble to patients.Anti-microbial peptides are important effector molecules of the innate immune system, which can stimulate or enhance the immune response through a variety of immune regulatory effects,so they have been widely concerned in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. In autoimmune diseases, antimicrobial peptides not only have a good inhibito-ry effect on the course of type Ⅰ diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, but also participate in the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus, psoriasis,Sjogren's syndrome and systemic sclerosis, which all show a good application prospect.Exploring the immune regulatory activity of antimicrobial peptides and its research progress in the treat-ment of autoimmune diseases can provide literature support for the in-depth study of the immune regulatory mech-anism of antimicrobial peptides and provide theoretical reference for the application of antimicrobial peptides in the clinical treatment of autoimmune diseases in the future.
