Research on traditional Chinese medicine knowledge in the DESCRIPTIVE BI-LINGUAL CATALOGUE OF CHINESE BOOKS IN THE COLLECTION OF THE ASIATIC SOCIETY,CALCUTTA
In order to understand traditional Chinese medicine from an Indian perspective,and promote exchanges in Indian and Chinese medicine,statistical analysis was conducted on the medical information in the DESCRIPTIVE BI-LINGUAL CATALOGUE OF CHINESE BOOKS IN THE COLLECTION OF THE ASIATIC SOCIETY,CALCUTTA.The information mainly comes from the Sancai Tuhui,Zengbuwanbinghuichun,Hedingbencaobeiyao,HedingYifangJijie,Bencaoyifanghebiantuxiang and Yifang Jijie.Among the 798 medicinal herbs,there are 646(80.95%)plant medicines,97(12.16%)animal medicines,43(5.39%)mineral medicines,and 12 species(1.50%)of other medicinal herbs.The most common family is the Compositae family,and the most common genus is the Plum genus.The most common medicinal taste is bitter,and the most common medicinal property is cool.There are 33 medicinal herbs that record toxicity,and the most common diseases are"symptoms,signs,and clinical and laboratory abnormalities"and digestive system diseases.The most common effect is regulating menstruation.Only two medicinal herbs record habitats,and 14 medicinal herbs record administrative distribution characteristics.Under the 162 prescriptions,only the treatment of diseases and their effects were recorded,with 49 medicinal herbs recording their effects.Among them,the most common effects were heat clearing.Exploring the medical information in the DESCRIPTIVE BI-LINGUAL CATALOGUE OF CHINESE BOOKS IN THE COLLECTION OF THE ASIATIC SOCIETY,CALCUTTA promotes the development of traditional Chinese medicine,deepens the understanding of traditional Chinese medicine culture among Indian scholars,and inspires scholars from both China and India to strengthen international exchanges and research on ancient books.
