Retrospective Cohort Study of Stephania Root and Astragalus Decoction Combined with Acupoint Catgut Embedding in the Treatment of Simple Obesity with Spleen Deficiency and Phlegm Dampness
Objective:To observe the efficacy and safety of Stephania Root and Astragalus Decoction(SRAD)combined with acupoint catgut embedding in the treatment of simple obesity of spleen deficiency and phlegm dampness type. Methods:A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 175 patients with simple obesity admitted to the Metabolism and Obesity Clinic of Jiading District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Shanghai from January 1,2020 to January 1,2023,with 95 patients in the treatment group and 80 patients in the control group. The treatment group was treated with SRAD combined with acupoint catgut embedding, and the control group was treated with metformin sustained-release tablets for three months. The main indicators such as weight, waist circumference,BMI,weight loss outcome, and TCM syndrome efficacy were observed.Secondary indicators such as insulin resistance index,HbA1c,and blood lipids,as well as safety indicators such as liver and kidney function were also measured. Results:Compared with the control group, body weight,BMI and waist circumference of patients in the treatment group decreased significantly with the extension of time, and the incidence of clinical weight loss was significantly higher, and indexes such as HOMA-IR,HbA1c and triglyceride were significantly improved(P<0.05).In terms of TCM syndrome efficacy, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 89.47%(85/95),which was better than that of the control group 51.25%(41/80),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).No abnormal liver and kidney function was observed in both groups during treatment. Conclusion:Stephania Root and Astragalus Decoction combined with acupoint embedding can significantly reduce patient weight, improve blood sugar, insulin resistance and lipid metabolism, and the patient compliance is good, with good safety.
