Effect of the Bushen Yangrong Formula on Ovarian Function in Women with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Objective:To analyze the characteristics of ovarian function in women with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)and to investigate the intervention effect of the Bushen Yangrong Formula on ovarian function in these patients. Methods:Sixty women with SLE of childbearing age who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 30 patients in each group, using a random number table.Additionally,20 healthy women of childbearing age were included as a healthy control group. The control group received conventional Western medical treatment, while the experimental group received the Bushen Yangrong Formula in addition to the treatment in control group, for a duration of 3 months.Follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),estradiol(E2),anti-Müllerian hormone(AMH),and inhibin B(INHB)levels were recorded and compared between SLE patients and healthy volunteers. The changes in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,SLE Disease Activity Index(SLEDAI)scores, serum complement C3 and C4 levels, endometrial thickness, and serum sex hormone levels(FSH,LH,E2,AMH,INHB)before and after treatment were compared between the experimental and control groups, along with clinical efficacy. Results:Compared with healthy volunteers,SLE women had significantly lower levels of AMH,INHB,and E2,and significantly higher levels of FSH and LH,with statistical significance(P<0.05,P<0.01).After treatment, compared to the control group, the experimental group showed a significant increase in AMH,INHB levels, and endometrial thickness(P<0.01)and a significant decrease in FSH levels(P<0.01).TCM syndrome scores and SLEDAI scores significantly decreased, and complement C3 levels significantly increased(P<0.01).There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups regarding LH,E2,and complement C4 levels(P>0.05).The clinical total effective rate in the experimental group was 86.67%(26/30),significantly higher than that in the control group, which was 43.33%(13/30)(P<0.01).Conclusion:Women with SLE of childbearing age experience decreased ovarian reserve function. The Bushen Yangrong Formula can effectively improve hormone levels, menstrual conditions, and ovarian function in these patients, thereby enhancing their quality of life.
