Combined Therapy of Chinese Herbal Fumigation and Extracorporeal Shock Wave Treatment for Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of combined Chinese herbal fumigation and extracorporeal shock wave therapy(ESWT)for treating greater trochanteric pain syndrome(GTPS).Methods:Thirty-six GTPS patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 18 patients in each group. The control group received ESWT,while the observation group received additional Chinese herbal fumigation therapy. Both groups were treated for 30 days.Changes in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)symptom scores(localized stabbing pain, fixed pain, blood stasis in veins, subcutaneous bruising, dark tongue with spots, thin or choppy pulse),visual analog scale(VAS)scores, and Harris Hip Score(HHS)were observed before and after treatment, and the overall clinical efficacy rate was compared between the groups.Results:Post-treatment,TCM symptom scores(stabbing pain, fixed pain, venous stasis, subcutaneous bruising, dark tongue with spots, thin or choppy pulse)and VAS scores were significantly reduced(P<0.05)in both groups, while HHS scores significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the observation group showed greater improvements in TCM symptom scores,VAS,and HHS(P<0.05).The clinical efficacy rate in the observation group was 83.33%(15/18),significantly higher than 66.67%(12/18)in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Chinese herbal fumigation combined with ESWT is effective and safe for treating GTPS,promoting functional recovery and improving patients' quality of life.
