Research Progress of Chaihu Shugan Powder in the Treatment of Functional Gastrointestinal Diseases
Chaihu Shugan Powder,created by the Ming dynasty physician Zhang Jingyue,is a representative formula for soothing the liver,relieving depression,regulating qi,and alleviating pain.It is primarily used to treat abdominal pain and hypochondriac pain caused by liver qi stagnation.This formula is widely applied in various internal injuries and miscellaneous diseases,particularly showing significant efficacy in functional disorders without organic lesions.In recent years,with changes in lifestyle and dietary habits,the incidence of functional gastrointestinal disorders has been increasing annually,severely impacting patients' quality of life.Literature indicates that Chaihu Shugan Powder is effective in treating functional gastrointestinal disorders,and clinical and mechanism-based research has shown considerable progress.This article reviews recent reports on the treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders with Chaihu Shugan Powder,summarizing theoretical,clinical,and mechanistic studies.Literature review findings suggest that Chaihu Shugan Powder enhances gastrointestinal motility,regulates signaling pathways,repairs the gastrointestinal mucosal barrier,alleviates low-grade inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract,reduces visceral sensitivity,and modulates gut microbiota.It offers multiple advantages in treating functional gastrointestinal disorders such as functional dyspepsia,irritable bowel syndrome,functional abdominal pain,and functional constipation,including symptom improvement and reduction of adverse reactions.
