Study on Poly Ethylene Oxide Modified Sodium Silicate Binder
The fundamental ingredients of PEO modified sodium silicate binder are determined, and the bonding strength in room temperature and retained strength in high temperature of ester cured sand and CO2 hardening sand are tested. The research indicates that adding PEO to the sodium silicate can improve its aging status and spread out its bonding efficiency well. With the same binder amount, the sand strength is nearly 1.5 times that of general sodium silicate sand, and the retained strength from 800 ℃ to 1000 ℃ is less than 0.5 MPa. The results demonstrate that the PEO modified sodium silicate possesses lower binder amount, better technical performances of sand and easier cleaning after pouring, which is in favor of reclamation of the used sand.
