Casting Technology Optimization of the Railway Freight Car Knuckle
This article introduces the foundry technology design and the trial production of the railway freight car knuckle.The knuckle is made of Grade E cast steel.The calculation of casting modulus shows that the riser pad's modulus is higher than the riser's,which leads to the lack of the riser feeding capacity.And this is the main cause of the shrinkage defects.After the riser was redesigned and using the exothermic riser,the inner defect of the knuckle was eliminated and the casting quality and application safety was enhanced.
