Analysis and Improvement of Nitrogen Porosity Defects in Sand-lined Metal Mold Castings
The qualitative and quantitative analysis of nitrogen porosity defects in gray cast iron produced by iron-clad sand casting was carried out by using EDS spectrometer. The formation reasons of nitrogen pores were analyzed in combination with casting production technology The measures of replacing the coated sand on the raw material, increasing the amount of new sand and separately managing the recycled sand of shell line and iron line were adopted, and the production process reduced the defects risk by increasing the exhaust plug, increasing the iron mold temperature, curing time, pouring temperature and other measures. The improved process continuously produced more than 100,000 products, and no nitrogen porosity defects occured.
