Preparation Technology and Evaluation Method of High Homogeneous Titanium Alloy Ingots
Secondary melting of titanium alloy ingots was conducted using the vacuum consumable electrode arc melting(VAR)technique.High-grade raw materials were employed, with precise adjustments to the alloy formula and accurate weighing,to manage the compositional fluctuations of the key chemical elements Al,Zr,Mo,and V.The mixture was thoroughly blended to prevent contamination from foreign matter.Key smelting parameters including current, voltage, and vacuum levels were documented, and operational methods were optimized. This process yielded four batches of four titanium alloy ingots.Samples were collected from the center,1/2R,and edges of both the upper and lower end faces of each ingot,as well as two samples from the central edge, totaling 32 samples.Chemical composition analysis was conducted, suggesting that the composition is initially judged to be uniformly distributed.Statistical methods were utilized to quantify the uniformity and consistency of the composition. To ensure accurate data analysis, the process capability indices(Cp and Cpk)for the main chemical elements Al,Zr,Mo,and V of the ingots were calculated using Minitab software. Both Cp and Cpk values exceed 1.0,signifying strong process capability, high level of control, and high uniformity and consistency of the composition.
