Effect of Rotating and Pulsed Magnetic Field on Solidification Microstructure of Zn-2.75%Cu Peritectic Alloy
The effects of rotating magnetic field and pulsed magnetic field on the solidification structure of Zn-2.75%Cu peritectic alloy were studied. The results show that the solidification structure of Zn-2.75%Cu alloy is composed of primary dendritic and spherical ε-CuZn5 phase and matrix η phase, and the dendrites near the edge of the sample are coarser. After applying rotating magnetic field and pulsed magnetic field, the coarse and developed dendrites in the Zn-2.75%Cu peritectic alloy are gradually refined and transformed into fine and uniform spherical and rose-like structures. The ε phase becomes fine and round, the size decreases, and it changes to equiaxed crystal, the distribution is more uniform, and the number is significantly reduced. The primary ε phase at the center is smaller and fewer than that at the edge. The refinement effect of rotating magnetic field is more obvious, and the dendrite is completely transformed.
