Effect of Graphite Morphology and Distribution on Elastic Modulus of Cast Iron
The elastic modulus and deformation of gray cast iron, nodular cast iron step test block and super heavy CNC machine tool beam castings were studied. It is found that the most important factor affecting the elastic modulus of gray cast iron and ductile cast iron is the cooling rate in eutectic solidification, which determines the size, thickness and austenite form size of graphite in cast iron, and thus also determines the level of elastic modulus.Under the same casting, the deformation of ductile iron is 0.5~0.7 times that of gray iron.
