By sorting out the direct and indirect paths of digital economy to enhance green total factor produc-tivity and constructing the SBM-Malmquist-Luenberger model, this paper reveals the spatio-temporal differen-tiation characteristics of green total factor productivity in the Yellow River Basin from 2010 to 2020.We em-pirically test the direct effect of digital economy on green total factor productivity in the Yellow River Basin and the mediating effect of technological innovation and industrial structure upgrading. The results show that:Firstly, the overall development level of digital economy in the Yellow River Basin shows a steady upward trend.Secondly, the green total factor productivity shows an upward trend in the Yellow River Basin, but there are large differences within the basin. The green total factor productivity is higher in the downstream are-as,followed by the middle areas and lower in the upstream areas.Thirdly, the digital economy has a positive effect on green total factor productivity in the Yellow River Basin and is significant at the 1%level.In addi-tion,the digital economy also improves the level of green total factor productivity in the Yellow River Basin by enhancing technological innovation and promoting industrial structure upgrading. The contribution rate of tech-nological innovation and industrial structure upgrading are 34.27%and 14.91%,respectively.
