Third language(L3)phonological acquisition is an integral part of third language acquisition and a significant topic in multilingualism.After conducting a thorough review of international research since 2000,this paper concludes that the research themes comprise crosslinguistic influence and multilingual advantage.The research scopes cover speech perception and production,while the research objects are divided into segmental and supra-segmental research.The research methodology is primarily empirical research.The research theories mainly include relevant theoretical models which are introduced by the field of second language acquisition and third language acquisition.This paper proposes suggestions for research on L3 phonological acquisition,summarizing its achievements and shortcomings abroad.The suggestions include improving regressive transfer research,innovating research methods,advancing suprasegmental feature acquisition research,increasing the study of phonological perception,enhancing longitudinal research,and expanding the scope of research objects.
