In the 1920s and 1930s,Mao Zedong conducted a comprehensive, meticulous and realistic social investi-gation of China's rural society, and wrote classic investigation reports such as"Analysis of the Classes in Chinese Society"and"Investigation of Xunwu",which accurately observed and described the economic status, social status and political attitude of Chinese peasants(rich peasants, middle peasants, poor peas-ants,and hired peasants)and landlord gentry, and laid a solid foundation for the formulation of the policy of agrarian revolution in the Chinese Soviet areas. There were two major contentious issues in the agrarian revolutionary policy in the Chinese Soviet areas. One was how to deal with the rich peasants, and the other was whether the peasants had land ownership, both of which were finally resolved more satisfactorily as Mao Zedong and other leaders continued to conduct social investigations and constantly adjust their land policies.Mao Zedong's realistic social investigation found the main force of the revolution, gradually ex-plored the line of agrarian revolution suitable for China's national conditions, and promoted the integration of the basic tenets of Marxism with China's specific realities.
