After the downfall of the Northern Song dynasty,the descendants of Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi migrated southward as a whole.During the Jingtai period of the Ming dynasty,they were discovered and awarded the honorary title of the Five Classics Doctor in the imperial Academy.They went through the Ming and Qing dynasties,hereditary disregard,responsible for ancestor worship affairs.According to research,a total of 22 descendants of the Ming and Qing dynasties,including 10 descendants of Cheng Hao and 12 descendants of Cheng Yi,inherited the position of the Five Classics Doctor in the imperial Academy.The descendants of Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi held the position of the Five Classics Doctor in the imperial Academy,and had basic principles in the way of post succession,but also had specific management responsibilities.In the early period of the Republic of China,after Yuan Shikai promulgated the Chongsheng Code of Laws,the position of the Five Classics Doctor was changed to a sacrificial official,and the system of inheriting the Five Classics Doctor in the imperial Academy by the descendants of Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi was end-ed.
