Bone glue is a common surface sizing material for traditional Chinese calligraphy paper. In order to obtain the specific effect of bone glue on the properties of traditional calligraphy paper,a domestic brand of bone glue and rice paper were taken as an example,and bone glue aqueous solution was configured according to the principle of mass fraction of 0.0％,0.5％,1.0％,1.5％,2.0％,2.5％. The quantitative,thickness,tensile strength and other indexes of rice paper with different amounts of bone glue were compared by means of relevant instruments. The results showed that with the increase of the amount of bone glue,the physical properties of rice paper showed a change state of first increase and then decrease. When the mass fraction of bone glue in aqueous solution was 2.0％,the comprehensive properties of rice paper were the best.
