Research on geological characteristics and calcination system of ceramsite shale in Nanchuan area
The insufficient output of ceramsite has become the bottleneck restricting the scale and sustainable application of this multi-functional mineral material in the building materials market.Through taking the rich shale horizon in Nanchuan area of Chongqing as the object,it was found that the middle and lower shale of Longmaxi Formation(S1 l)in the study area had an average expansion coefficient of N=4.1 after calcination test(boundary grade N>2).Based on XRF,rock and mineral identification and SEM scanning electron mi-croscopy,the characteristics of expansive shale are shown to be w(SiO2)62%,w(Al2O3)19%,w(Fe2O3)7%,w(CaO+MgO+K2O+Na2O3)8.5%,TOC of approximately 0.86%,and the mineral assemblage is characterized by quartz, chlorite, illite and plagioclase, and the prepared shale ceramsite mineral assemblage is quartz, hematite and metamorphic minerals. The directional arrangement and special structure of mineral particles in shale can significantly promote the expansibility.According to the orthogonal test and single fac-tor variable control test, the calcination system in the study area is optimized as follows:particle size 12~15 mm,heating rate 12 ℃/min,calcination temperature 1 200 ℃,and holding time 20 min.It is hoped that this study can provide a basis for the development and utilization of ceramsite shale mineral resources in the study area.
