Oil and gas geological characteristics and prospects for increasing storage in Tashkumel area of Kyrgyzstan
The Taskumel region is one of the oil and gas blocks under the Kyrgyz Oil and Gas Corporation(KNG),which belongs to the low exploration degree area, and the remaining recoverable oil resources are limited due to insufficient investment in subsequent explora-tion.In order to extend oilfield life and find replacement oil and gas resources in the block, based on systematic analysis of regional geo-logical data, this study comprehensively analyzed sedimentary facies characteristics, structural formation and stress mechanism in the block according to the evolution stage of the basin, summarized the types of oil and gas traps in the block and the combination character-istics of generation, storage, cap and migration, and combined with seismic depth profile interpretation. It was pointed out that two sets of source rocks can be formed in the study area:Lower Jurassic-Middle Jurassic and Paleogene Eocene-Oligocene.The oil and gas traps in the study area were mainly nasal structure traps, which can be further subdivided into fold traps,fold-fault traps and fold-lithology traps at different parts of the nose structures. The next focus of work and potential areas for increased storage were delineated.
