Effects of dietary calcium power on laying performance, egg quality and serum biochemical indices of ducks
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of calcium powder instead of calcium granules in diet on laying performance, egg quality and serum biochemical indices of ducks.Three hundred healthy black ducks were randomly divided into two groups:calcium granule group and calcium powder group. There were 15 replicates per group and 10 ducks per replicate. The results showed that when calcium powder replaced calcium granules, the egg production rate and eggshell strength of duck eggs were significantly increased. The average egg weight and yolk weight of the calcium powder group were lower than those of the calcium granule group. The use of calcium powder granulation prolongs the service life of each component of the granulation machine. In summary, calcium powder instead of calcium granules can improve the laying rate of laying ducks, reduce the damage of duck eggs, extend the machine life and improve economic benefits.
