The influence of different materials of cold iron on the hardness of cast iron was studied.Under the same heat transfer conditions,three kinds of cold iron,graphite and steel were used respectively to chill the same part of gray cast iron and ductile cast iron,and their hardness was tested.The test results show that the influence of different materials on the hardness of castings of the same material is inconsistent.
