The Multidimensional Approach In Systems Dynamics. Modeling Urban Systems

The research line suggested in this paper consists of introducing in Systems Dynamics models more than one dimension. That is, in addition to time, to consider other dimensions such as space ones, population cohorts for social systems, kinds of subspecies for ecosystems, and so on. In order to do that, the level-equations of Systems Dynamics are generalized, obtaining adequate equations to construct space-time or multidimensional dynamical models. These models are useful to perform predictions and select control actions over the system object of study, taking into account the dynamics of the system along time, along space and over the other previously mentioned dimensions. A methodology to construct these kinds of models from this generalized approach is suggested and applied to construct multidimensional dynamical models of urban systems.
