Development of New Red Phosphor Na_3YSi_2O_7:Eu~(3+) for a white LED

New red phosphors Na_3YSi_2O_7:Eu~(3+) was prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction. This silicate phosphor can be efficiently excited by near UV light, yielding an intense red emission. Under the excitation of near UV light, the emission intensity is higher than that of a commercial red phosphor Y_2O_2S:Eu~(3+).
