Binary microstructures at both micro- and nano-scale are constructed by the electrochemical depositing Ni and TiO_2 on the stainless steel surface. Superhydrophobicity is achieved with a water contact angle greater than 150° after modifying the textured surface with fluoroalkylsilane (FAS-17, CF_3(CF_2)_7CH_2CH_2Si(OCH_3)_3). The morphology of the Ni-TiO_2 compound coating is studied by scanning electron microscopy.
