Although there are still important unmet medical needs in the field of oncology, it seems that nanotechnology could play an important role in realizing the objective of attaining personalized therapies and even in detecting precancerous cells. The promise is to find the right combination of therapeutic agents and targeting moieties, avoiding the biological barriers and destroy malignant cells without or with minimal side-effects.
