Hyperthermia treatment of tumors.3. Multifunctional bioactive particles for drug delivery and tissue regeneration.3.1. Tissue regeneration: something else than substitution.3.2. Mesoporous bioactive glasses. The sol-gel and supramolecular chemistry cooperation.3.3. Main advances in mesoporous bioactive particles4. Conclusions and outlook.Development of nano and microparticles for biomedical application has emerged as one of the most groundbreaking research field during the last decade. Advances associated to nanosystems preparation in the world of nanomedicine have challenged the scientists to develop smart functional materials able to address unmet medical needs [1-4]. Drug encapsulation and delivery, molecular recognition, biocompatible coatings and materials production, inorganic-biological hybrids, molecular analysis or diagnostic techniques [5-12] are just some of the issues to be approached from a different perspective.
