Preparation of cathode materials for a lithium-ion battery using an industrial microwave furnace

Cathode materials for a lithium-ion battery were prepared using an industrial microwave furnace. The prepared materials were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electrochemical properties. Single-phase LiMn_2O_4 powders could be prepared in a few minutes using an industrial microwave furnace. The obtained results showed that this microwave heating method is a promising industrial technique for efficient preparation of cathode materials.
