The Tool Path Generation by Using Configuration Space for Five-Axis Controlled Machining: Application to Rough Cutting by Using Square End Mill

In this report, we extended the tool path generation method for five-axis controlled machining by using the original two-dimensional C-Space for adjusting to using square end mill. We defined the cutting point coordinate system, and let C-Space adjust to square end mill. Furthermore, we selected the position of the cutting point while considering the tool attitude by using C-Space of the cutting point coordinate system, and generated the tool path. The tool path generated by the proposed method considered tool interference, movable range of driving axes of machine tool, continuity of tool attitude change, and reduced in cutting remains at fillet parts.Lastly, by performing some machining simulation, we confirmed that the proposed tool path generation method is effective for machining with square end mill.
