Abstract
Mitigation ofenteric methane production from ruminants is important torapidly curb global warming. Here, we review and analyzethe current stage of implementation and barriers for adoptionof various strategies to reduce enteric methane emissions.We identify and discuss opportunities, obstacles, andresearch needs for the adoption of different enteric methanemitigation strategies in intensive and extensive productionsystems. This review stems from a technical guidancedocument conducted under the auspices of the LEAP (LivestockEnvironmental Assessment and Performance Partnership)program of the Food and Agriculture Organization ofthe United Nations.
