By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News – Research findings on robotics are discussed in a new report. According to news originating from the University of Warwick by News Rx correspondents, research stated, “Autonomous robots used in infrastructure in spection, space exploration and other critical missions operate in highly dynami c environments.” The news editors obtained a quote from the research from University of Warwick: “As such, they must continually verify their ability to complete the tasks assoc iated with these missions safely and effectively. Here we present a Bayesian lea rning framework that enables this runtime verification of autonomous robots. The framework uses prior knowledge and observations of the verified robot to learn expected ranges for the occurrence rates of regular and singular (e.g., catastro phic failure) events. Interval continuous-time Markov models defined using these ranges are then analysed to obtain expected intervals of variation for system p roperties such as mission duration and success probability. We apply the framewo rk to an autonomous robotic mission for underwater infrastructure inspection and repair.”
