Abstract
The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: “As recognized herein, photographic applications of distant, small objects, such as birdwatching, can be enjoyed best with rela tively large lenses and high-resolution cameras. As also recognized herein, such a lens has a narrow field of view, meaning that peripheral vision is lost when looking through the lens. Further, present principles recognize that the relativ ely large weight of such a lens coupled with a large aperture and narrow focus p lane can complicate aiming the lens at the target subject, such as a flying bird . Even if the subject is within the frame, the photographer might not realize if the subject is in focus.”
