Abstract
News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: “With conventional microscopes, a sitting or standing user views a sample carrier through an eyepiece. He is thereby able to interact direc tly with the sample in that, on the one hand, he can get a cursory overview of t he field of view of the objective, in particular of the sample carrier, the posi tion of coverslips and of samples and, on the other hand, he can laterally move the sample carrier with the sample either directly or with the aid of an adjusta ble sample stage in order to bring other areas of the sample carrier into the fi eld of view of the objective. As the user of the microscope can thereby remain i n his position and only needs to move his head slightly, conventional microscope s are highly ergonomic in this regard.
