News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: “Stable and reliable robotic systems are becoming increasin gly common, which has contributed to the recent advancement and proliferation of unmanned system technologies. In many instances these systems are equipped with recording devices (e.g., video, infrared, heat, audio, point cloud, and/or othe r recording devices). For example, a drone equipped with a camera (e.g., a video camera, a night vision camera, an infrared camera, or another suitable camera) may enable an operator or another observer to get a good tactical view of what i s happening in an operational area. In many instances, it may be useful to ident ify objects in the camera footage (e.g., other operators, vehicles, etc.) and in dicate a position of those objects in three-dimensional space. Furthermore, it m ay be useful to link those objects with known objects and label the objects in the footage with their three-dimensional position and identification. However, de termining an accurate three-dimensional location of objects within the image may be difficult, as the camera is mounted to a vehicle (e.g., a drone) that is mov ing, so adjustments may be needed. Furthermore, determining which objects within the images correspond to which real-world objects may also be difficult, especi ally in cases where multiple objects of the same type (e.g., multiple people) ar e detected in the footage.
