The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: 'Embodiments of the invention relate generally to X-ray medical imaging, and mor e particularly to systems and methods to perform biopsy exams guided by a stereo tactic mammography, or digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT). Spectral mammography (SM) can also be used to guide the biopsy exam, with or without contrast agent i njection, either in 2D (CESM guided biopsy) or in 3D (CEDBT guided biopsy). 'X-ray mammography (MG) is an X-ray imaging modality used to scan breasts for sc reening, diagnosis and/or interventional examinations. The effectiveness of X-ra y mammography is affected by numerous factors, one of which is the two-dimension al (2D) rendering of images obtained.
