This patent application is assigned to Zodiac Pool Care Europe (Belberaud, Franc e).The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by theinventors: “Numerous cleaning devices capable of autonomous movement within swimming pools and spascurrently exist. The most common of the se devices are APCs, which often are either hydraulic or roboticin type. Hydrau lic cleaners vary water flow for movement, while robotic cleaners typically empl oy electricmotors to cause motion. Hydraulic APCs, furthermore, subdivide into “pressure-side” and “suction-side”cleaners, with pressure-side cleaners being f luidly connected to outputs of pumps of pool water circulationsystems and sucti on-side cleaners being fluidly connected to inputs of such pumps. While various typesof information may be useful for the APC and/or may be desirable to commun icate to a user, traditionalAPCs cannot integrate all sensors due to size const raints on the APC as well as constraints on the sensorssuch as fragility of the sensor, type of sensor, costs associated with sensors and/or integrating such s ensorson an APC, operating environment constraints, etc.”
