No assignee for this patent application has been made.Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors:“Control systems are used for controlling supervisory setpoint s of mechanical systems, such as flow ratesof a manufacturing process or coolin g levels of a heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system.Supervis ory setpoints-also referred to herein as “setpoints”-are often calibrated and se t by technicians.However, setpoints set by technicians are often left unchanged for long periods of time, and as such maynot result in efficient operation of the mechanical system. For example, variable demands on the systembeing control led or unexpected changes in the operating environment may result in an ineffici ent outcome.Improper setpoints may also result in excessive wear, reduced opera ting effectiveness, or even damage tothe system.
