This patent application has not been assigned to a company or institution.The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “Applications that use hand pose tracking are nu merous, including virtual and augmentedreality, spatial user interfaces, sign l anguage recognition and context awareness. Existing wrist-worn handpose systems use optical methods (e.g., RGB cameras, thermal cameras, range finders). These methods,however, are sensitive to occlusion from clothing and the user’s hand i tself in certain poses. Wrist-worncamera-based methods also innately carry priv acy implications that can deter consumers.”
