The objectsdesired to be gripped by the gripping devices widely vary. Accordingly, a technique of recognizing a shapeof an object desired to be gripp ed by a camera and determining a gripping motion according to the shapeof the o bject is proposed. However, the technique using the camera requires vast amounts of calculationsfor recognition of the object and the apparatus may be complex and the cost may be higher.
