Abstract
The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “Speech recognition systems have progressed to t he point where humans can interact withcomputing devices using their voices. Su ch systems employ techniques to identify the words spoken by ahuman user based on the various qualities of a received audio input. Speech recognition combined withnatural language understanding processing techniques enable speech-based us er control of a computingdevice to perform tasks based on the user’s spoken com mands. The combination of speech recognitionand/or natural language understandi ng processing techniques, or other techniques or combination thereofused to int erpret input audio data is referred to herein as speech processing. Speech proce ssing may alsoinvolve converting a user’s speech into text data that may then b e provided to various text-based softwareapplications.
