News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:“Online concierge systems, which allow customers to place o nline delivery orders and match the orders with pickers who service the orders a t retailer locations on behalf of the customers, may allow their customersto pu rchase gifts for other customers of the online concierge systems. To help custom ers select the gifts,the online concierge systems may suggest gifts for specifi c customers. They may do so based on customerdata maintained in the online conc ierge systems describing attributes of the customers (e.g., preferences,favorit e items, etc.), their order histories, etc. and item data maintained by the onli ne concierge systemsdescribing attributes of various items (e.g., brands, price s, colors, etc.) included among the inventories ofretailer locations. For examp le, if a first customer of an online concierge system frequently purchases apar ticular chocolate item, the online concierge system may suggest the same chocola te item to a secondcustomer of the online concierge system who is searching for a gift for the first customer.
