News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:““The present disclosure relates to a robot and a control method for a robot. “A robot described in JP-A-2005-177914 has a base, an arm that rotates in relati on to the base, amotor that rotates the arm, and a speed reducer provided betwe en the base and the arm. The speedreducer has an input shaft, an output shaft, and a gear train, and reduces the rotational speed of the inputshaft via the ge ar train and outputs the reduced speed from the output shaft. In such a speed re ducer,backlash or so-called play is present between the gears of the gear train .
