News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:“A business, such as a quick service restaurant (e.g., a fa st-food restaurant), sets itself apart from otherrestaurants by being able to p repare orders of food items quickly and properly such that the order is freshan d complete when a customer is ready to pick the order up (e.g., when the quick s ervice restaurant isready to deliver/present the order to the customer). Howeve r, various factors can result in a customer’sorder failing to be ready in a tim ely manner or failing to be fresh by being prepared too far in advanceof delive ry/presentation to the customer. The quick service restaurant (also referred to herein as the“QSR”) can fail to deliver/present the order to the customer if th e QSR is too busy to prepare the orderfast enough. The QSR can deliver/present the order to the wrong customer, slowing down the delivery tothe correct custom er. If the customer ordered by phone, online, or by mobile application (e.g., a phoneapp), the order may be ready well before the customer arrives at the QSR t o pick the order up, resultingin one or multiple food items of the order no lon ger being fresh.”
