By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning DailyNews Daily News - According to news reporting based on a preprint abstract, our journalists obtained thefollowing quote sourced from bi orxiv.org:“Fungal plant pathogens causing head blight and leaf blotch diseases are one of the most importantthreats to cereals such as oat and wheat. Although different resistant varieties have been developed, thesediseases are still hard to contro l thus driving the use of chemical fungicide in Europe and worldwide. Plantbree ding programs to develop new varieties with quantitative resistance could result in a longer resistanceto the pathogens but require scalable quantitative metho ds to analyze complex phenotypes. Additionally,in nature, several diseases can occur at the same time due to the coexistence of different pathogen species, thu s increasing the genetic complexity of the pathosystem.
