Abstract
The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “A business, such as a quick service restaurant (e.g., a fast-food restaurant), sets itself apartfrom other restaurants by bein g able to prepare orders of food items quickly and properly such that theorder is fresh and complete when a customer is ready to pick the order up (e.g., when the quick servicerestaurant is ready to deliver/present the order to the custom er). However, various factors can result in acustomer’s order failing to be rea dy in a timely manner or failing to be fresh by being prepared too far inadvanc e of delivery/presentation to the customer. The quick service restaurant (also r eferred to hereinas the “QSR”) can fail to deliver/present the order to the cus tomer if the QSR is too busy to preparethe order fast enough. The QSR can deliv er/present the order to the wrong customer, slowing down thedelivery to the cor rect customer. If the customer ordered by phone, online, or by mobile applicatio n (e.g.,a phone app), the order may be ready well before the customer arrives a t the QSR to pick the order up,resulting in one or multiple food items of the o rder no longer being fresh.”
