From the background information supplied by the inventors, news correspondents o btained the followingquote: “Presently, conversational ambient computing is lar gely or completely unauthenticated. The onlylimitation on permissions for conve rsational ambient computing or conversational interfaces is physicalaccess. So called voice-print technologies are not currently mature enough to be useable fo r authenticationwith any conversational interface. Certain conversational inter face platforms allow for users to establish aPIN for authorization of certain i nteractions, but the clear downside to use of a PIN is that a spoken PINcan eas ily be overhead and compromised. A one-time password can provide some level of s ecurity but present one-time passwords are typically alphanumeric (e.g., 1234ABC D). Spoken alphanumeric stringsdo not provide consistent results for voice inte rfaces. Therefore, an alternate means of determining if theuser is authorized t o request a particular action is needed.”
