News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:“This invention relates to a transport system for transport ing workpieces on a transport path between twoprocess stations of a production line.“It is frequently necessary in industrial production processes to transport work pieces between consecutiveproduction process stations, in which the individual partial stages of the production are completed.A typical example of this would be presses in a press line. Plate shaped workpieces, such as for examplemetal s heets, are taken from a withdrawal station and introduced in a first press, in w hich a first pressingstage is carried out, then subsequently removed from this press, and then introduced into a further pressfor the carrying out of a second pressing stage, and so on. The spaces that are available for the freetransport of the workpieces is frequently very limited, since there is frequently little available space bothwithin the presses themselves and also between the individu al pressing stations. These limitations do notonly exist within press lines, wh ich are here named exclusively by way of example and not limitedly for thisinve ntion, but rather also in other production lines with consecutive process statio ns. The term “ProcessStation” shall hereinafter also include a withdrawal stati on, in which the workpieces which have not yetbeen processed are available for transport to a subsequent production station, as well as also a storagestation used for storage of the completely processed workpiece at the end of the product ion line.
