The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “Autonomous mobile robots can move about an envi ronment and can perform functionsand operations in a variety of categories, inc luding but not limited to security operations, infrastructureor maintenance ope rations, navigation or mapping operations, inventory management operations, androbot/human interaction operations. Some mobile robots, known as cleaning robots , can perform cleaningtasks autonomously within an environment, e.g., a home. M any kinds of cleaning robots are autonomousto some degree and in different ways . For example, some mobile cleaning robots can perform bothvacuuming and moppin g operations or routines.”In addition to the background information obtained for this patent application, NewsRx journalists alsoobtained the inventor’s summary information for this pat ent application: “A mobile cleaning robot canbe an autonomous robot that can na vigate an environment to complete various cleaning activities. Theenvironment c an include various surfaces (e.g., carpet, tile, wood, or the like), various for ms of debris(e.g., liquid, dirt, hair, or the like), and various obstacles (e.g ., floor transitions, cords, furniture, objects, orthe like). Therefore, mobile cleaning robots can struggle to navigate environments having various surfaces,debris, and obstacles.
