Fo r orders containing perishable food items, a retailer may have a wide range of i tems available that have differing remaining shelf-lives or other quality charac teristics. A challenge can therefore exist for the picker in selecting the speci fic perishable items for fulfilling an order that will best meet the customer’s preferences.”
