Abstract
Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors: “In robotized painting processes, a gear pump is often used to control the dosing of paint to an atomizer. The paint result is highly dependen t on an accurate control of the paint flow rate. For automotive robotic painting , the paint dosing accuracy by the gear pump directly affects the painting resul t. “Over time, the gear pump is worn and the flow rate through the gear pump at a g iven rotational speed therefore decreases due to an increased internal leakage o f the gear pump. When the wear exceeds a certain limit, the gear pump must be re placed or serviced. Some gear pumps also become mechanically damaged or are impr operly mounted, resulting in an inaccurate dosing of liquid.
